The Cancellations Tour Log - Day 5

Day 5 at The Soul Bar in Augusta, GA was almost a drive by show, but turned out to be a fair evening.

We pulled up with the trailer and Dan hopped out to check out the parking situation. He quickly popped back in laughing and told us it was possibly a drive by gig where we would drive by to the next bar, drink all night, and skip the gig, lol. The bar was basically one long hallway with the stage set up facing the long side so the PA was behind the stage against one wall and the opposite wall was about 15’ away, which is not ideal. Fortunately we have our own in ear monitors and it helped to control our mix to the PA with our rig.

The morning started easy. We all got great sleep thanks to Laurlyn’s hospitality. We all went down to a nearby island to get some sea food for lunch, and Gary and I got to thoroughly enjoy some oysters. We grabbed some ice cream and walked to the ocean from there to hang out for a bit before we had to take off for Augusta.

It was a short drive and I used it to get my social media work done. We stopped at the hotel quick to get ready and then we discovered the venue situation.

Fortunately it was a fair show in the end and we had people show up just to see us. I also turned to the left on stage to face the people hanging at the bar and was able to convert a few folks which felt great to get them rocking along.

We were able to shoot our next scene for the music video and loaded out by 1am, grabbed some Taco Bell, had a loud sing along in the car, and got back to the hotel and in bed by 2am.

Oh, and the bar tender that worked the first shift continued drinking all night and tried to help us with the video shoot stuff for finding a power outlet and it was a rather hilarious scene.
