As of now, the drums, bass, and acoustic guitars have all been recorded, and I've started working on the electric guitar and vocal recording, albeit my timeline seems to have gotten away from me this summer. After not being able to do much last summer because of COVID, I've been trying to get out and go to events, see friends, and just get outside more in general. It's been great fun, but I keep finding that as I get older, time just flies by, and I've been struggling with fitting everything. Fairly often I feel like time is running out and I can't keep up.
All year I've been working hard on the new album along with all of the things that surround the album creating process to plan, prep, and promote the release to the best of my ability, and I've been getting burnt out and overwhelmed with trying to handle everything on top of a stressful, demanding day job. So, I haven't been able to keep up with my overly ambitious album timeline, which I seem to do to myself consistently... (sad lol)
I've been taking the past few weeks to find some down time to re-charge and plan to get back to work on the whole process in due time. Although it's important to take dedicated time to write and work on my art each day, there is a point of diminishing returns when I'm exhausted every time I approach music and it's not enjoyable. That's when it's important to step back because I'm not able to put in the emotional depth and attention that's needed on a recording. It shows right through the music when I can't align myself or channel properly, and in turn can't give my songs the justice they deserve on a permanent recording.
But don't worry, the album is still front and center in my plans, things will just take longer than what I was hoping I could deliver. I want to do everything I can to create an excellent recording and album experience. I also want to do everything I can to promote and share this music to as many new listeners as possible, and between everything else in my life, I have to keep reminding myself that this all takes time...
