Album Update - Home Studio/Bass Recording

It's been awhile since my last post and I've been anxious waiting to keep moving forward.  I found myself at the mercy of COVID shipping delays and had to hold off starting the bass guitar recording until I could set up my new music room with proper acoustic treatment and tuning.

For anyone who doesn't know a lot about audio and acoustics, one of the most important things with creating a recording is how you hear the tonal quality of the instrument you're recording, and how it translates from the speakers you're using to the speakers everyone else is using.  This is a huge bottleneck in the recording/mixing process that makes a huge difference in the quality of work that someone can produce, as well as TRUST what they're creating will come across as the art they intended it to be.  Think of it like a painter having more control over the colors they are using as well as control over how the viewer sees those colors.

So, if you know me, I had to make sure that I got this part right before I started recording in my new home studio space.  Now that it's all set up, I'm going to complete all of the bass recording by the end of this month!  At least that's the goal I'm giving myself because I really want to use all of June to complete all of the guitar recording.

You can plan on seeing some bass recording videos posted soon too!  I'm going to make the effort to capture as much of that recording work as possible to archive and find ways to share that process with fans without giving away too much before the release.

Also, I wanted to share my new studio space with everyone.  This setup has been a dream of mine for years and I've finally made it happen.  I feel a bit like it's showing off, but I still wanted to share my excitement with everyone.  Plus, I'm interested in working with other artist and this gives anyone interested a chance to see that I take my work and my gear seriously.  So, here are my pics!

And a couple of progress pics for reference on the change the acoustic paneling makes.

I'll also be doing a guitar rig post soon too so you can learn more about that pile of guitar pedals... I've been really considering doing a Patreon/Fan Club sort of thing too where I go fully in depth on my recording and guitar rig signal chain plus many more special perks and insider info that no one else can get.  More on that in the coming months leading up the the release.

One last thing if you've read this far...  I'll be working with the same artist that did the work for Gravity, and an album title has been chosen... I'll be debuting that in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
